An Even Better Way to Pen Test: New Features in Core Impact 21.1

The latest release of Core Impact has arrived! Version 21.1 demonstrates our commitment to allowing users to conduct advanced penetration tests effortlessly and efficiently. This release includes new features focused on increased visibility and ease of use, along with a simplified update process.

1. Attack Map

Core Impact’s testing capabilities enable organizations to get a comprehensive picture of their security status. In order to maximize visibility into the status of any test that Core Impact runs, a new attack map is now available. This network graph view provides users with a real-time overview of attack chains, pivoting and any other activities completed during testing. This increased insight allows security teams to better determine the best path forward in the testing engagement.

2. Simplified Module Menu

Core Impact has a number of modules that enable users to complete any number of penetration testing tasks, from the simple to the complex. These modules have now been reorganized into new categories in order to improve findability, whether you’re seeking a specific module or browsing. New categories include:

  • Information Gathering
  • Vulnerability Analysis
  • Web Application Analysis
  • Password Attacks
  • Wireless Attacks
  • Exploitation
  • Sniffing and  Spoofing
  • Post-Exploitation
  • Reporting
  • Social Engineering Tools

3. Enhanced Search Capabilities

The user experience of Core Impact is critical to ensure security teams can find everything they need within this robust penetration testing tool. In this latest release, searching within Core Impact is enhanced, with search results now featuring additional context – making it easier to find what you’re looking for.

4. Automated Updates

In order to streamline the update process, minor updates to Core Impact and new exploits can now be automatically installed, allowing you to enjoy new features as soon as they are available.

Users can set the time of day these updates are implemented so they don’t cause any disruptions. If necessary, this feature can also be disabled in the settings menu.
