Core Certified Exploits

Library of expert validated exploits for safe and effective pen tests

Exploit development can be an advanced penetration testing skill that takes time to master. Additionally, when on a job, pen testers often don’t have the resources to create a new exploit. Many resort to searching for and using pre-written exploits that have not been tested and must go through the timely effort of quality assurance testing in order to ensure they are secure and effective.

Core Impact users can save time by finding all the up-to-date exploits they need in one place. We provide a robust library of exploits designed to enable pen testers to safely and efficiently conduct successful penetration tests. Whether written by our own internal team or by a third party like ExCraft, you can trust they have been thoroughly tested and validated by our experts.

The universe of vulnerabilities is huge and not all of them represent the same risk for the customers. Vulnerabilities do not all have the same level of criticality. Some may be easily exploitable by a low-level user, while others may not be exploitable at all. To increase the efficiency of the attacks and the quality of the exploits provided, the Core Impact team has developed selection criteria to prioritize its analysis and implementation. We determine which exploits warrant creation based on the following questions:

  • What are the most critical attacks from the attacker’s perspective?
  • What new vulnerabilities are more likely to be exploited in real attacks?
  • What exploits are the most valuable for Core Impact?

Once an exploit is approved, its priority order considers the following variables:

  • Vulnerability Properties: CVE, disclosure date, access mechanism and privileges needed.
  • Target Environment Setup: OS, application prevalence, version and special configurations needed.
  • Value Provided to Core Impact: Customer request, usage in multiple attacks, allows the installation of an agent, etc.
  • Technical Cost vs. Benefit: An analysis weighing the resources needed to build an exploit with the internal and external knowledge gained in its creation.

Each one of these variables has a different weight and provides a ranking of the potential exploits to be developed. Following those criteria, the top of the list would contain, for example, a vulnerability on Windows (most popular OS) that can be exploited remotely, without authentication and that provides super user privileges.

Correspondingly, a vulnerability on an application that is rarely installed, needs special configurations, and requires User Interaction, would be at the bottom.

An attacker can exploit this vulnerability by crafting a malicious request that contains format specifiers. This module exploits this vulnerability and installs an agent. Linux Exploits/Remote Impact
Veritas Backup Exec exploit Update This module exploits a stack-based buffer overflow in the Agent Browser in VERITAS Backup Exec 7.3, 8.x before 8.60.3878 Hotfix 68, and 9.x before 9.1.4691 Hotfix 40, to install an agent on the target box. This update improves reliability for 8.x versions. Windows Exploits/Remote Impact
VERITAS Backup Exec Agent exploit This module exploits a stack-based buffer overflow in VERITAS Backup Exec Remote Agent 9.0 through 10.0 for Windows allowing remote attackers to execute arbitrary code. Windows Exploits/Remote Impact
VelotiSmart WiFi B-380 Camera Directory Traversal Vulnerability This module exploits a directory traversal vulnerability in FVelotiSmart Camera Windows Exploits / Remote IOT
Veeder-Root Automated Tank Gauge (ATG) Remote Configuration Disclosure This module exploits a directory traversal vulnerability in Veeder-Root Automated Tank Gauge Windows Exploits / Remote SCADA
Veeam Backup and Replication ExecuteUploadManagerPerformUpload Remote Code Execution Exploit An authentication bypass in Veeam.Backup.ServiceLib.CForeignInvokerNegotiateAuthenticator.Authenticate and a file upload present in ExecuteUploadManagerPerformUpload allows an unauthenticated attacker to execute system commands with the privileges of the "IIS Worker Process" process (NT AUTHORITY\\NETWORK SERVICE) Windows Exploits / Remote Code Execution Impact
Veeam Backup and Replication Backup Service Remote Code Execution Exploit A vulnerability in the Backup Service of Veeam Backup and Replication component allows encrypted credentials stored in the configuration database to be obtained. This may lead to gaining access to the backup infrastructure hosts.

This update adds a module that checks the vulnerability and retrieves all the credentials and another module to deploy an agent.
Windows Exploits / Remote Code Execution Impact
VCMS Image Arbitrary Upload Exploit A unrestricted file upload vulnerability exists in includes/inline_image_upload.php within AutoSec Tools V-CMS 1.0. This allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code by uploading a file with an executable extension and then accessing it via a direct request to the file in temp. Solaris Exploits/Remote Impact
vBulletin query Cross Site Scripting Exploit The application is prone to a cross-site scripting vulnerability because it fails to sufficiently sanitize user-supplied input to the 'query' parameter of the search pages. An attacker may leverage this issue to execute arbitrary script code in the browser of an unsuspecting user in the context of the affected site. This may let the attacker steal cookie-based authentication credentials and launch other attacks. vBulletin 4.0.2 is vulnerable. This issue does not affect vBulletin 3.x versions. Exploits/Cross Site Scripting (XSS)/Known Vulnerabilities Impact
vBulletin acuparam Cross Site Scripting Exploit Input passed via the URL is not properly sanitised before being returned to the user within the search.php, sendmessage.php, showgroups.php, usercp.php, online.php, misc.php, memberlist.php, member.php, index.php, forumdisplay.php, inlinemod.php, newthread.php, private.php, profile.php, register.php, showthread.php, subscription.php, forum.php, faq.php, and calendar.php script. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary HTML and script code in a user's browser session in context of an affected site. Exploits/Cross Site Scripting (XSS)/Known Vulnerabilities Impact
VBScript Engine UAF Exploit A remote code execution vulnerability exists in the way that the scripting engine handles objects in memory in Internet Explorer. The vulnerability could corrupt memory in such a way that an attacker could execute arbitrary code in the context of the current user. An attacker who successfully exploited the vulnerability could gain the same user rights as the current user. If the current user is logged on with administrative user rights, an attacker who successfully exploited the vulnerability could take control of an affected system. Windows Exploits / Client Side Impact
VBE Object ID Buffer Overflow Exploit This module exploits a heap-based buffer overflow in VBE.DLL and VBE6.DLL of Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) SDK 5.0 through 6.3, via a document with a long ID parameter. Windows Exploits/Client Side Impact
VBASE VOKSERVER Info Disclosure This module exploits a vulnerability in VBASE Windows Exploits / Remote SCADA
VariCAD DWB Buffer Overflow Exploit VariCAD is prone to a remote buffer-overflow vulnerability because the application fails to perform adequate boundary checks when opening .DWB files. Windows Exploits/Client Side Impact
