In my latest SecurityWeek article, I apply an old business adage to the security world: if you want to get ahead, don’t bring your boss problems, bring him or her solutions. When budget requests come before the C-suite, they need to be assured problems are being solved – not created – by this investment. This may seem obvious at first, but the reality is that incorporating new technology into the mix can often have unintended consequences. Adding layers of complexity to your security operation instead of simplifying processes is a poor investment and a waste of critical resources.
So how do you eliminate this issue? I offer some suggestions to help CISOs make a case for budget allotment and put dollars to work as they’re intended. I encourage you to check out the full article.
