SC Magazine Special 20th Anniversary Edition Ranks
CORE IMPACT Pro Automated Penetration Testing Software Among the Most Useful in IT Security Solutions

BOSTON – November 10, 2009 - Core Security Technologies, provider of the CORE IMPACT family of comprehensive enterprise security testing solutions, today announced that CORE IMPACT Pro has been named one of the 20 most influential and innovative IT security solutions ever reviewed by SC Magazine, one of the most widely read and respected sources for security industry news and product reviews.

In marking its 20th Anniversary with a special edition, SC Magazine editors ranked IMPACT Pro automated penetration testing software among the most noteworthy, “indispensible” products ever tested and reviewed by its SC Labs experts, specifically lauding the software’s flexibility of assessment models in addition to its ability to enable consistent, repeatable testing.

“We have seen many of the other commercial and open source test tools and there are some very good ones. But when it comes to needing a consistent, configurable, customizable, easy-to-run pen testing tool, CORE IMPACT from Core Security is a favorite hands down,” said Peter Stephenson, technology editor at SC Magazine in his review. “And it’s because of its strength and consistency that it makes our anniversary list.”

The SC Magazine “SC@20” anniversary recognition of CORE IMPACT Pro builds on the product’s perfect SC Labs review score achieved in May 2009 in which the magazine’s editors tabbed it the “ultimate tool in vulnerability assessment and penetration testing” and awarded it five out of five stars across all categories including Features, Ease of Use, Performance, Documentation, Support and Value for Money.

“As always, we’re extremely honored to gain such high praise from SC Magazine, which has long been considered a leading resource among IT security practitioners and product developers alike, and we’re especially proud of IMPACT Pro’s recognition as one of the best solutions SC Labs has ever reviewed given the sheer volume of products that these experts have evaluated over two decades,” said Fred Pinkett, vice president of product management at Core Security Technologies. “This historic placement further reinforces our belief that Core Security’s approach to comprehensive, automated penetration testing and the value of our products in helping organizations prioritize vulnerabilities and manage risk is unparalleled on the market today.”

Informational Webcast with SC Magazine Technology Editor, Peter Stephenson

On Nov. 19, Core Security will host an informational webcast featuring SC Magazine’s Peter Stephenson, during which he will talk about he and his colleagues‘ experiences in covering the IT security sector for the last 20 years, and provide greater insight into the publication’s efforts to recognize its landmark anniversary.

Specifically, Stephenson will detail the process through which SC Magazine editors and reviewers selected the 20 individual products recognized in the SC@20 special issue, while also taking a closer look at some of the individual selections. During this broad overview of the SC@20 program, Stephenson will touch upon some of the most interesting and valuable experiences that he and his team have had over their many years of testing products and using them in their own IT environment.

“Beyond just a look at the standouts we've seen highlighted in SC Magazine's pages, this also is quite a bit more than mere reminiscing,” Stephenson said in his column highlighting the SC@20 edition. “We can all recall times when we have been bailed out of some tough situations by a tool or product. And, most definitely, there have been some occasions when some solution has made our jobs a bit easier at some point during our professional careers.”

As part of his webcast, Stephenson will also reflect on SC Labs’ annual reviews of CORE IMPACT Pro, the product’s evolution over time, and why the experts have continually praised its ability to meet the needs of organizations seeking to perform internal penetration testing to prioritize, benchmark and measure their overall exposure to IT vulnerabilities and real-world threats.
