MD5 considered harmful today
After Dr. Wang presented the MD5 collisions at Crypto '05, Gera's researched the impact of these findings and found that one could generate several executable files with the same MD5 checksum. This invalidates MD5 checksums which are one of the preferred methods for establishing the integrity of content downloaded from the internet.
