Mark Hatton
President and Chief Executive Officer
As president, CEO and member of the board of directors, Mark Hatton is responsible for setting Core Security’s strategic direction and overseeing the company’s day-to-day operations.
With over 20 years of progressively diverse general management, sales and operations experience, Hatton has established a proven track record for generating revenue, building operations and providing successful leadership and direction. He has held senior roles with companies ranging from venture capital-backed, early-stage software vendors to a Fortune 500 information technology services and distribution organization.
Prior to joining Core Security, Hatton was president of North American operations for Sophos. During his tenure, he was instrumental in significantly growing the company’s North American business and transforming the company into the one of the fastest growing and largest independent security vendors in the industry
Hatton holds an MBA from Boston University, Massachusetts and a BA Communication from Westfield State College, Massachusetts. In 2006, he was inducted as a member into the prestigious Young Presidents' Organization (YPO), which includes more than 10,000 young global leaders in 80 nations.

John O´Brien
Executive Vice President of Corporate Operations and CFO
As Executive Vice President of Corporate Operations and CFO, John O’Brien is responsible for management of Core’s financial and administrative functions as well as leadership of the Company’s day-to-day business operations.
O’Brien comes to Core with more than 25 years of financial and operations management experience in the high-technology sector. Prior to joining Core, O’Brien served as EVP and CFO for Macgregor, Inc., a privately-held provider of software and connectivity services to the investment management industry, where he played an integral role in growing the company and its eventual sale to ITG, a financial services technology provider. O’Brien also served as CFO for Exchange Applications, Inc., a leading provider of analytic CRM solutions. Under O’Brien’s leadership, Exchange Applications successfully went from a private to a publicly-held company.
Earlier in his career, O’Brien held various senior-level financial management positions at Computervision Corporation, Wang Laboratories, Avid Technology and Advanced Modular Solutions. He began his career with Ernst & Whinney (now Ernst & Young).
O’Brien is a CPA and holds an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a BS in accounting from Northeastern University.

Ivan Arce
Chief Technology Officer
Ivan Arce, who is a co-founder of Core, sets the technical direction for the company and is responsible for overseeing the development, testing and deployment of all Core products. Arce also writes for numerous technical publications, speaks frequently at industry events and is commonly quoted in industry publications. He also currently serves as the Associate Editor of the IEEE Security & Privacy Magazine.
Prior to co-founding Core, Arce most recently served as vice president of research and development at VirtualFon, a computer telephony-integration company where he was responsible for the development, testing and deployment of mission-critical computer telephony applications. Previously, Arce spent 8 years as an information security consultant and software developer for banks, government agencies and financial and telecommunications corporations.

Milan Shah
Senior Vice President of Engineering
As senior vice president of engineering, Milan Shah drives development of future CORE IMPACT solutions, including those designed specifically for use in testing the security standing of large, sophisticated organizations and computing environments.
Prior to joining Core, Shah served as vice president of engineering in the Identity and Access Management group at CA where he led the engineering of products acquired via the Netegrity acquisition. Prior to CA, Mr. Shah was the vice president of engineering at IMLogic where he was a founding team member and contributed to the development of enterprise-class server solutions before the company was acquired by Symantec, and before that as development manager in Microsoft’s Exchange product group.
Shah graduated from The University of Illinois with a degree in Computer Engineering and also holds a masters degree in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Jeffrey Cassidy
Vice President and General Manager of South American Operations
Jeffrey Cassidy is responsible for the daily management of Core Security’s Buenos Aires offices, where he oversees the company’s consulting and research & development organizations in addition to the regional human resources and IT operations teams. Before undertaking this role, he oversaw all of Core’s domestic and international business development activities, including strategic alliances and partnerships, and has also previously directed the company’s sales and marketing efforts.
Prior to joining Core, Cassidy served as consultant with Dean & Company Strategy Consultants where he focused on the financial services and telecommunications industries. There, he managed client engagements in such areas as retail marketing strategy, merger and acquisition integration, and new market entry strategy. Cassidy also worked previously at Andersen Consulting in systems integration, and with the Washington Capitals in business development. He graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University with a degree in Civil Engineering and Operations Research, and earned his MBA from the Harvard Business School.
Tom Kellermann
CISM, VP of Security Awareness
Tom Kellermann is responsible for building Core's relationships with key industry and government partners, and helping to further the acceptance of auditing security defenses to reduce organizations' operational risk. Kellermann also represents Core by participating in U.S., international and industry security working groups, helping these organizations promote improved security practices and policies. Specifically, Tom is a Commissioner on The Commission on Cyber Security for the 44th Presidency and he serves on the steering Committee of the Financial Coalition Against Child Pornography. In addition, Tom is a member of the Information Technology Sector Coordinating Council; the IPv6 Forum; the American Bar Association’s working group on Cyber-crime and the High-Performance Computing Working Panel. Tom is a Professor at American University’s School of International Service and is a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM).
Kellermann formerly held the position of Senior Data Risk Management Specialist the World Bank Treasury Security Team where he was responsible for cyber-intelligence and policy management within the World Bank Treasury. In this role, Tom regularly advised central banks around the world about their cyber-risk posture and layered security architectures. Along with Thomas Glaessner and Valerie McNevin, he co-authored the book “E-safety and Soundness: Securing Finance in a New Age.” Kellermann holds a BA from the University of Michigan and a Masters from American University’s School of International Service.
Kimberly Legelis
Vice President of Marketing
As vice president of marketing, Kim Legelis is responsible for management of Core Security’s corporate, product and field marketing efforts and the direction of all of the company’s external communications.
With over 20 years of experience working across nearly every aspect of enterprise marketing for a range of high-profile IT companies, including several security market segment leaders, Legelis has developed a reputation for driving successful new business initiatives from concept to revenue, including pioneering work in the arenas of vertical solutions and account-based marketing. Kim also has a lengthy track record in international business development, specifically in the European and Asia-Pacific regions.
Prior to joining Core Security, Legelis served as director of North American Field Marketing for Symantec, where she led U.S. and Canadian marketing teams in support of billion-dollar annual revenues. Before joining Symantec in 2002, Kim served as a marketing manager at Baltimore Technologies (formerly GTE CyberTrust) and managed European business acquisitions for Tokyo-based Kao Infosystems Co.
Legelis holds an MBA and Doctorandas in International Marketing and Finance from The Netherlands School of Business and a BS in Industrial Management and Economics from Carnegie-Mellon University. She is also a graduate of the GTE Executive Marketing Development Program at GTE Corp.

Stephen Pace
Vice President of Sales and Services
Steve Pace is responsible for overseeing Core Security’s global sales, services and support initiatives. Steve has more than 20 years experience in information technology, including enterprise software, network management, storage management, security management, and managed application and data center services. Prior to Core Security, he served as senior vice president of worldwide operations for ChosenSecurity, a leading provider of on-demand digital identity services where he was responsible for all sales, marketing, support, and service operations. He also was vice president of worldwide sales with GeoTrust, where he was responsible for direct and channel sales efforts, leading the company though an explosive growth phase that culminated in its acquisition by VeriSign.
Steve’s experience also includes executive roles at application service provider, Surebridge, Inc., where he built the sales and marketing organization from the company’s founding through its sale to NaviSite, Inc. He continued with responsibility for worldwide sales and marketing at NaviSite, where he directed the integration of sales and marketing efforts across multiple lines of business, including Software as a Service (SaaS), Microsoft Business Solutions, Oracle/JDE/Siebel and PeopleSoft applications – growing each unit to record levels within the company. Steve also gained extensive sales, marketing and operational management experience while at Seagate Software, Wall Data, NetScout and IBM.
Steve graduated from the Pennsylvania State University with honors and a degree in Electrical Engineering, and he also studied at the University of Arizona while at IBM. He also serves on the Customer Advisory Board with the College of Information and Technology at Penn State.

Fred Pinkett
Vice President of Product Management
Fred Pinkett oversees Core Security´s product strategy and roadmap. Mr. Pinkett joined Core Security from ExaGrid Systems, a provider of disk-based backup with data de-duplication, where he served as vice president of market development and helped drive product strategy, execution and operations. Prior to ExaGrid, Mr. Pinkett held the position of vice president of product management at Pedestal Software, Inc., a provider of system security audit and compliance software, where he was a key contributor to the acquisition of Pedestal Software by Altiris in 2005. Mr. Pinkett has also held various senior-level positions at Network Associates, RSA Security and Banyan. He holds an MBA from Boston College and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Engineering from Massachusetts Institute
of Technology.
Paula Varas
Vice President of Engineering
Paula Varas oversees the design, development and testing of all Core Security products. She has over 15 years of experience applying best practices to software development projects, with a focus on process definition and improvement. Prior to joining Core, Varas led multiple high-profile initiatives for Motorola’s Software Group, where she received the Motorola Bravo Award for Customer Satisfaction. She previously was a project leader at Assist S.A., an Argentinean software development and consulting firm, where she worked with Banca Nazionale del Lavoro and other industry-leading clients. She has also held technical positions at Neuralsoft, Hewlett Packard and Nasa Computing. Varas graduated as a System Analyst from the Universidad Tecnológica Nacional in Argentina and is a PMI Project Management Professional from the Project Management Institute of Pennsylvania.
Ariel Waissbein
Director of Research & Development
Ariel Waissbein is the head of CoreLabs, the company´s research and
development center. As such, he is responsible for driving all day-to-day
research and publishing activities as well as the protection of Core´s
intellectual property. Waissbein writes for numerous technical publications
and has taken part in various conference program committees.
Prior to joining Core, Waissbein was part of the TERA working group, a
multinational research group whose objective is solving elimination problems
using advanced algorithmic algebra and algebraic geometric tools. He
graduated from Buenos Aires University with a degree in Mathematics.
Alberto Soliño
Director of Security Consulting Services
Alberto Soliño heads Core's consulting team, with responsibility for developing new business as well as managing critical consulting engagements. As the director of consulting services, Soliño has led engagements for customers including Microsoft and Symantec. Soliño has a strong background in professional services and brings to Core a unique combination of organizational, consulting and technical skills. Prior to Core, Soliño served for over 4 years as a member of the Special Projects Group under the supervision of the World Bank. There, Soliño assisted in providing security oversight to all new projects and helped develop an electronic system to securely administer tax information. Soliño has also participated in several security-related research groups at the University of Buenos Aires.
