Core Security closes 2008 with Record Growth in Revenue and Customer Base, Expects Continued Upward Trend in 2009

A Recently Expanded Product Line and New Management Team Fuel Increase

BOSTON - February 2, 2009 - Core Security Technologies, provider of CORE IMPACT solutions for comprehensive enterprise security testing, today announced record revenue growth as a result of increased market adoption of penetration testing, expansion of the CORE IMPACT product line, and corporate leadership changes.

Core Security Sees Record Growth for 2008

Achieved via widespread uptake of CORE IMPACT solutions, Core Security closed 2008 with record growth and more than 800 licensed customers worldwide.  “The tremendous growth that we have seen in the last year and the continued growth we expect in 2009 has been made possible by our elite line of products which address the security testing needs and demands of enterprises of all sizes,” said Core Security Technologies CEO Mark Hatton. “This, coupled with our experienced management team and world-renowned CoreLabs researchers, has been the key to our success.”

Core Security Responds to Market Need with Expanded Product Line

In the past year, new industry regulations and an increasingly sophisticated threat environment have driven automated penetration testing even further into the mainstream, leading to a wider customer base with more varied needs. Core Security responded with the addition of a new product, CORE IMPACT Essential, and a new version of the flagship product, CORE IMPACT Pro.

CORE IMPACT Essential allows Core Security to better serve the growing needs and demands of enterprises of all sizes seeking to get a better handle on their corporate security posture. The latest installment of CORE IMPACT Pro extends the solution’s industry-first automated web application penetration testing capabilities to a new level by introducing Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) and Blind SQL Injection modules.

“The addition of CORE IMPACT Essential and the new version of CORE IMPACT Pro offer a broader array of organization types and sizes the opportunity to proactively test vulnerabilities, mitigate operational risk and assure security effectiveness throughout their IT environments,” said Fred Pinkett, VP of Product Management at Core Security Technologies. “In today’s ever-changing threat landscape, it is important that we continue to grow and meet the evolving needs of our customers.”

New Leadership Guides Core Security from Record 2008 into a Promising 2009

In 2008, Core Security added seasoned industry veterans, further establishing the company’s role as a leader in the security industry. In March, Mark Hatton joined the company as president, chief executive officer and a member of the board of directors. Hatton was previously president of North American operations for security vendor Sophos.

Kimberly Legelis, who previously served as director of North American Field Marketing at Symantec Corporation, also joined the company as vice president of marketing. Additionally, John O’Brien, who worked as the EVP and CFO for Macgregor, recently joined Core as the Executive Vice President of Corporate Operations and CFO.

Core Security also added Jeff Clark as vice president of business development, who will drive expansion of the company’s strategic OEM, alliance partner and channel relationships.
